Meet Harmony Samuels, The Grammy-Nominated British-Nigerian Producer
Harmony David Samuels, professionally known as H-Dog or Harmony, is a British-Nigerian producer, composer and songwriter, whose impressive credits include working with Ariana Grande, Brandy, Tiwa Savage, Seyi Shay, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Brown and much more.
Born in London to Nigerian parents, Harmony taught himself to play the drums when he was four years old and the piano when he was only six. By the age of 12, he had already become his church's musical director and when he turned 14 he had made up his mind to become a music producer.
From Maroon 5 to Ciara, he's been killing it for years
His career officially took off in 2010, with him producing for Maroon 5, Tiwa Savage, Chipmunk and Janelle Monae all in that year. Since then, he's been responsible for producing and writing a ton of hit pop (Fifth Harmony), r&b (Ciara) and gospel (Michelle Williams) tracks.
Speaking with Billboard about why he loves creating music:
"I love helping people and seeing things go from zero to an amazing piece of art."
In 2014, he was nominated for his first Grammy in the 'Best R&B Song' category for co-writing Fantasia's "Without Me" featuring Kelly Rowland and Missy Elliot but eventually lost out to Justin Timberlake's "Pusher Love Girl".
This year, he worked with Fifth Harmony on their brilliant self-titled studio album, producing and writing one of the album's standout tracks "Sauced Up". You can check out which of your other favourite bops Harmony has written and produced right here.
