Nigeria's Basketball Team Has Qualified For The 2020 Olympic Games
The first African basketball team to qualify for the Olympics!
Nigeria's national basketball team, D'Tigers may not have gotten the results they wanted in their first two games at the ongoing Basketball World Cup in China, but the team has certainly powered up and are now posing a threat to others.
After beating South Korea and Ivory Coast, D'Tigers went on to show China who's boss — beating them 86 -73 — and becoming the first team out of Africa to qualify for the upcoming 2020 Olympic Games.
With China currently hosting the World Cup, Nigeria's third win in the competition wasn't an easy feat. The opponents were leading with 2 points in the first quarter. Heading into the second quarter, however, Nigeria recorded wins down to the last lap.
With their track record as the team with the highest number of games won in a single Basketball World Cup, we expect the team to continue beating their opponents into the quarter-finals, and hopefully, they could win the whole thing.
Tokyo 2020 will be the third straight Olympics for D'Tigers.
