Watch The Nollywood-Inspired Video For Santi's Latest Song, 'Freaky'

A few weeks ago, Santi stirred up social media with his creepy teaser for the Nollywood-inspired video for "Freaky". Amidst all the commotion, he released the fantastic track, featuring Bridge and Nonso Amadi. Now, he's finally unveiled the video, and it's exactly what we expected it to be.

"Freaky" is a little taste of his upcoming EP, and it shows off his ear for music, as it's a completely different sound from the other songs he's dropped this year.

The Genio Bambino-produced beat is intimidating and aggressive, demanding your attention upon first play. Nonso Amadi's verse is the standout of the song, as he merges his r&b sound into an otherwise inclined beat, and it works really well.

While we loved the song, the video is even better, as it pays homage to old Nollywood, which is gaining a lot of traction these days. Speaking to The Fader about the inspiration behind the self-directed video, Santi said:

"With 'Freak' our vision was to pay homage to the vintage Nollywood horror by telling the story of an evil girl and a Nigerian exorcist played by me.

It is a dark video that pays homage to its ancestors while telling the story of a girl who wants nothing but to destroy the souls of men"

While we agree that it's hella creepy and we won't be watching it again to avoid nightmares, it's super creative and we'll need this kind of innovation from all Nigerian music directors moving forward.
