Migos & Drake's Daps-Directed Music Video Nominated For A 2018 MTV VMA
Dapo Fagbenle (aka Daps) is one of the most exciting music video directors working today, as he’s directed a bunch of our favourite artists' most memorable videos, including Migos’ "T-Shirt" and Wizkid’s "Come Closer".
Well, just four months ago, the gifted director managed to surpass his own already high bar with the '70s-inspired clip for Migos and Drake’s "Walk It Talk It", and now that video has nabbed a thoroughly deserved 2018 MTV VMA nomination.
"Walk It Talk It", which was a masterful ode to Soul Train, is up against Cardi B’s "Bartier Cardi", The Carters’ "APESHIT", Drake’s "God’s Plan", J. Cole’s "ATM" and Nicki Minaj’s "Chun Li" for the 'Best Hip Hop Video' award.
This isn’t the first time a Daps-directed video has been nominated for an MTV VMA. Just last year, his video for Migos' "Bad and Boujee" lost out to the video for Kendrick Lamar’s "Humble" in the exact same category.
Although we'd really love to see "Walk It Talk It" walk away with this award — it's the most technically impressive of all the nominees — we think it will inevitably go to either The Carters' "APESHIT" or Drake's "God's Plan", as both are also nominated for 'Video of the Year'.
