Haneefah Adam Is Turning Bowls Of Pap Into Colourful Works Of Art

Who knew a day would ever come when we'd consider a bowl of pap 'too pretty to eat'? Well, thanks to the multi-talented medical scientist, visual artist and lifestyle blogger, Haneefah Adam, that day is finally here.

Haneefah, who has made a career out of playing with her food, recently started a series inspired by the Instagram trend of artsy smoothie bowls. Instead of fruit and granola topped smoothies, however, she smartly decided to focus on pap, a Nigerian breakfast staple.

From her aptly-named galaxy pap bowl, which is quite literally 'out of this world', to her ultraviolet ogi bowl, which she used to welcome her followers into the new year, Haneefah Adam continues to prove she is one of the most innovative young artists working today.

Speaking with Konbini about what inspired the series, Haneefah said:

"They were inspired by smoothie bowls, I guess, and mostly by my inclination towards creating experimental art — working with an eclectic selection of media. It’s why I started using Nigerian foods to create artworks."

About how long the series will run for, Haneefah continued:

"I’ll continue for as long as it lets me take it, and I hope to create an appropriate avenue for Nigerian food artistry and challenge us to unlock its potential."
