Blast From The Past: Where Is Shank Now?

While Nigerian music is still popping today, our favourite era was definitely between 2008 and 2012. One of the musicians who blessed us with bops during that time was Shank — who came, dropped an album (King Kong), and went away like he never existed.

We know that an artist's shelf life is a big thing in the music industry, however, we never expected Shank to have such little staying power. It's a bit surprising that we don't hear from Shank at all, especially given that he wasn't an average musician.

His breakout single, "Julie" was the perfect party-starter, and we're pretty sure "Salute" was everyone's favourite song when it was released. In between those songs, were great ones like "Never Felt" ft. D'banj, "Ghetto" and many others.

In this digital age, it's a bit odd that we have not a single clue what he's doing because, thanks to social media, we still hear from musicians such as Eldee — who has retired from music but is still hanging around Twitter, giving advice nobody asked for. Shank has barely any social media presence, and all we have are memories of him and his bangers.

Well, at least he gave us enough material in his short stint to jam to, and we think he might still have a spot in the game if he ever decided to come back. So if you're reading this Shank, come back! We miss you!
