Uzo Aduba Is Formidable In The Moving Trailer For 'Miss Virginia'
This is the Nigerian-American actress' first lead role!
It's been a few months since we learnt that the latest season of Orange Is The New Black will be the last time we get to see Emmy winner, Uzo Aduba as Crazy Eyes. Thankfully, she'll be bringing her magic to the big screen, as she leads the upcoming biopic, Miss Virginia.
Based on an inspiring true story, Miss Virginia follows a struggling inner-city single mother, Walden Ford (played by Uzo Aduba), who moves her at-risk son from their dangerous neighbourhood school to an expensive one in a safer area.
Sacrificing everything but still unable to make the tuition payment, she launches a movement — the Opportunity Scholarship Program for low-income students — that could vastly improve her son’s future and that of many other children in the community
The trailer shows her entire journey, from her son's suspension to her fight for educational reform, while also teasing a knockout performance from Aduba. Miss Virginia will be available on-demand from October 18, and we certainly can't wait to watch.
