David Oyelowo To Join George Clooney in Netflix's 'Good Morning, Midnight' Adaptation
Could this be the movie that gets David Oyelowo an Oscar?
Continuing his streak of very well-selected roles, Variety reports that British-Nigerian actor, David Oyelowo is in final negotiations to join George Clooney in Netflix’s yet-untitled adaptation of Lily Brooks-Dalton’s 2016 novel, Good Morning, Midnight.
The novel, set in a post-apocalyptic universe, follows the parallel stories of Augustine, a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to make contact with the crew of the Aether spacecraft as they try to return home to Earth.
George Clooney will play Augustine, while also directing the movie. Oyelowo's role has not yet been revealed, but he will be joining a cast that already includes Felicity Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Kyle Chandler (The Wolf of Wall Street).
With George Clooney, an Oscar darling, starring and directing, as well as Netflix handling distribution, like they have for Oscar winners and nominees in the past, this role — whatever it turns out to be — could be a legitimate shot at an Oscar for Oyelowo.
