Watch The Action-Packed Trailer For 'Treadstone', The Jason Bourne Series Spin-Off

The assassins are back.

Following Limitless, Taken and Minority Report, the world of Jason Bourne is now coming to the small screen. The fiction character created in the novels by Robert Ludlum was the subject of a cinematic trilogy released between 2002 and 2007, before giving rise to an initial spin-off (The Bourne Legacy in 2012) then a sequel (Jason Bourne in 2016), which saw Matt Damon make a comeback in the starring role. Since then, the fate of the universe surrounding the character has been in the hands of USA Network and Tim Kring (the creator of Heroes and Heroes Reborn) leading to the production of a new spin-off in series format: Treadstone.

The name of the show refers to the Treadstone 71 program, a CIA behaviour modification project aiming to create super assassins, including Jason Bourne. The series will look back on the origins of Treadstone, focusing on the fate of several sleeping agents who wake up after undergoing traumatic experiences. The spin-off has an appealing cast, featuring Brian J. Smith (Will in Sense8), Jeremy Irvine (War Horse), Michelle Forbes (True Blood), Omar Metwally (Mr. Robot), Tracy Ifeachor (Doctor Who) and Michael Gaston (The Man in the High Castle).

The trailer for Treadstone follows in the footsteps of the more recent Jason Bourne movies, with spectacular action scenes and a plot focusing on a mystery to be resolved by the sleeping agents. Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass, who aren't keen to relive the Jason Bourne experience, will be absent from the credits. The first ten episodes from the show will be released on USA Network in October.
