The Trailer For Season 2 Of 'The Punisher' Is Here

Frank and Billy have declared war on one another.

Frank Castle isn't going to get much time to relax. Following a breathless Season 1 which explored his past in the Marines, the Punisher returns on January 18 to take up arms against a variety of bad guys. The mission looks set to be a tough, bloody one for the avenger, judging by the initial images from the two minute trailer released by Netflix.  Amid volleys of machine gun fire and rounds of fistfighting, we learn a little more about the plot which will be the focus of the thirteen new episodes in the series.

As readers of the comics authored by Garth Ennis will expect, Season 2 of The Punisher will be an adaptation of the iconic story arc, "The Slavers". Frank will come to the assistance of a young woman attacked in a bar (a Moldovan prostitute in the comic version), whose loved ones have just been massacred. As well as coming face-to-face with the worst thugs in New York, the Punisher will also come up against Billy Russo (Ben Barnes) once again, who is now out of hospital with a burning desire for vengeance. They'll fight a merciless battle in the streets of the Big Apple, which has lost numerous heroes in recent months.

Season 2 will also see the return of police officer Madani (Amber Rose Revah), although Micro (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) will be absent, most likely removed from the story for the benefit of Frank's young protege. What's more, the make-up artists haven't gone too far with Jigsaw's facial scars, preferring realism over faithfulness to the original comics. But given that the Punisher seems angrier than ever and is set to stack up the corpses in this second season, we can forgive this aesthetic decision.

Season 1 of The Punisher is available in full on Netflix.
