The Force Is With Him: Baby Yoda Will Be Back In Season 2 Of 'The Mandalorian'
The stream of Baby Yoda GIFs doesn't look like it'll be letting up anytime soon.
Over the last few weeks, The Mandalorian has become increasingly popular, not only for its undeniable quality but also for the cuteness of Baby Yoda, the surprise character in the Star Wars series. The hype surrounding the alien, who has traveled all over social media via a flood of GIFs, each more adorable than the last, doesn't look set to abate anytime soon. Indeed, Rian Johnson, the director of The Last Jedi, who'll be directing three more films in the coming years, has now revealed that Baby Yoda will be back in Season 2 of the show.
The series by Jon Favreau has been officially renewed by Disney and the team are already filming again. In October, Rian Johnson was invited onto the film set and it was there that he caught sight of Baby Yoda for the first time, as he recently told TheWrap:
"He’s amazing! I visited the set of The Mandalorian a month ago, and I spotted Baby Yoda in the corner and the producer shot me a look as if to say, 'you can’t say a word!' I’ve been holding that secret in my heart for forever now. And the memes are amazing. I’m very pro-Baby Yoda."
While the first season of The Mandalorian appears to focus on the collapse of the Empire and the flight of the bounty hunter, Jon Favreau could take advantage of the new episodes commissioned to explore the origins of the Yoda species, which remains shrouded in mystery among Star Wars fans.
