Rumors Are Circulating About A Live Action 'Young Avengers' Series
Less famous than their elders but just as badass, the Young Avengers could be set to shine in their own Disney+ series.
Let's hope you enjoy superhero stories, because the coming years will be packed full of Marvel productions. With the imminent arrival of Disney+, the House of Ideas is already planning a wave of original series, including both live action and animation. According to rumors reported by Full Circle Cinema, an adaptation of the Young Avengers comics is currently being prepared for the Disney streaming platform.
Although a feature-length film hasn't yet been ruled out, Disney+ and Marvel Studios are planning to produce a mini-series focusing on the long overlooked Young Avengers. The latter have been around since the early 2000s and saw an uptick in popularity in 2013 thanks to a new narrative arc by Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie (to whom we owe the fascinating saga The Wicked + The Divine).
The team features superheroes such as Iron Lad, Miss America, Wiccan and Hulking – the latter two forming one of the rare homosexual couples in the Marvel universe. Among the other members of the Young Avengers team are Stature, aka Cassandra Lang, who is Ant-Man's daughter, as played by Emma Fuhrmann in Endgame. There's also a female version of Hawkeye on the team, who could be played by Hailee Steinfeld (Pitch Perfect) in the series Hawkeye announced by Disney+ for release in 2020.
