Roach And Geralt's Second Sword Are Unveiled In New Images From 'The Witcher'

Kaer Morhen is getting closer every day.

The most promising heir to Game of Thrones continues to be revealed little by little. Prior to San Diego Comic-Con, where the series will be discussed at a panel, Netflix has published a new image from its adaptation of The Witcher. After revealing how Yennefer and Ciri will look, the platform has now released a photo of Geralt de Riv's most loyal companion: his horse Roach, a name which the Witcher gives to all of his steeds, which are usually mares.

Unlike The Witcher 3, in which Roach sometimes defied the laws of gravity because of bugs in the game, the hero played by Henry Cavill seems better able to control the animal in the image. In any case, the series by Lauren S. Hissrich is largely based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski and not on the video games from CD Projekt. Keen-eyed fans will also have noticed a small piece of metal to the right of the horse's stomach, which will reassure sceptics that one of Geralt's emblematic weapons hasn't been overlooked after all.

On the first photos to be released, the Witcher was only carrying one sword, a steel weapon designed for combat between men. But in the world of The Witcher, the pupils of Kaer Morhen mostly fight supernatural creatures using magic swords made of silver. That's why the Witchers usually carry two swords. Luckily, it seems that the item attached to Roach's saddle is the handle of Geralt's much-feared second blade.

The showrunner has confirmed the information on her Twitter account, which should appease fans raging about the divergence from the novels. It really would be perfect now if The Witcher panel announced for Comic-Con revealed a teaser and a release date, although we know that the series is scheduled for release sometime at the end of the year.
