Find Out More About M. Night Shyamalan's New Series 'Servant' In This Disturbing Trailer
On the menu: a grieving couple, a paranoia-inducing ambience and a menacing doll...
Three years after the end of Wayward Pines, his very first series in collaboration with Chad Hodge, M. Night Shyamalan is back on the small screen. This time, the American director is working with Apple to create Servant, a psychological fantasy thriller with an initial trailer sure to make you break out in a cold sweat. Screenwriter and producer Tony Basgallop (Outcast, Berlin Station) will be the showrunner for the series.
The first two episodes of the series were directed by M. Night Shyamalan. The imagery used in the trailer is reminiscent of the creepy, paranoid atmosphere he created in The Sixth Sense, a far cry from his latest creations, Split and Glass. In Servant, we discover the tragedy which has befallen the Turner family, a Philadelphia couple mourning the death of their child. In the process of separating, they realize that a demonic presence has invaded their home. It could be linked to Jericho, the macabre doll made to resemble the Turners' dead baby.
For his return to the series world, M. Night Shyamalan has brought together a great cast of actors. Toby Kebbell (Black Mirror) and Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) will play Sean and Dorothy Turner respectively. The couple hire a nanny to take care of their child, who will be played by Nell Tiger Free (Too Old to Die Young). We also caught a glimpse of Rupert "Ron Weasley" Grint in the trailer, who has a secondary role in Servant.
The first three episodes of the show are expected on Apple TV+ on November 28, and subsequent episodes will be released on a weekly basis after that.
