Biggie To Have A Brooklyn Street Named After Him
For his 47th birthday, the late Notorious B.I.G was honored with a street renamed after him.
Starting next month, it will possible to walk on the Christopher Wallace Way according to Billboard. The online magazine explains that a part of St James Place, between Gates Avenue and Fulton Street, was renamed after the New York rapper where he grew up and started his career.
A beautiful homage to one of the historical figure of Gotham City, since The Notorious B.I.G was a pioneer of the East Coast rap scene and where he left behind an important musical legacy. The initiative was agreed upon by the Brooklyn Community Board 2 back in November before being approved by the city council and Mayor Bill de Blasio.
"Honoring Biggie symbolizes more than just one man. It symbolizes a culture. It symbolizes a borough. It symbolizes a people, and hip-hop is worldwide," LeRoy McCarthy, who helmed the endeavor, told Rolling Stone. The announcement occurred on May 21, which would have been Biggie's 47th birthday.
