Big News: A New Movie About The Spice Girls Will Be Out In 2020
Paramount Animation revealed yesterday that it's preparing a feature film about the legendary group featuring unheard tracks.
Twenty five whole years have passed since they began their careers, and yet, the Spice Girls are well and truly making a comeback in 2019. A global tour visiting the four corners of the Earth, rental of the tour bus used for Spice World… This time, the singers will be back on the big screen, as Paramount revealed yesterday that it's preparing a feature film about the group.
As well as being directed and produced by a mainly female team, as Hollywood Reporter tells us, the film will be an opportunity for the 90s singers to get together and come up with new tracks. Yep, even Victoria Beckham will be taking part in the movie, according to the initial information released. But don't worry, it will also feature the group's biggest hits like "Wannabe".
Mireille Soria, producer at Paramount, has revealed that the Spice Girls themselves are behind the feature film project: "They had an idea that we've been developing", she explained yesterday, adding that they are "extremely involved" in the film, which should be released in 2020.
The Guardian went one step further, revealing information about the planned plot, in which the Spice Girls will be transformed into superheroines. The rumors flying around in 2018 seem to have been confirmed.
Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown and Emma Bunton will be pretty busy this year, alternating filming for the movie, production of the soundtrack and their latest tour. Their first biopic, Spice World, grossed 151 million dollars worldwide in 1997, despite poor reviews… Let's see if the group's fans are as loyal two decades later.
