A 'Breaking Bad' Mobile Strategy Game Is Coming
You'll soon be able to manage your own meth business from your smartphone.
Breaking Bad may have left our screens a while ago, but the cult series continues to be a talking point in the entertainment world. After announcing the development of a film focusing on Jesse Pinkman, Vince Gilligan is now involved in creating a free-to-play mobile game inspired by the show. The game, entitled Breaking Bad: Criminal Elements, gives players the possibility to take on the role of Heisenberg and become drugs barons in an adventure described as a refreshing new take on the original screenplay.
The game for smartphones was created by FTX Games, the company behind Narcos: Cartel Wars, and independent developers Plamee. It is a strategy game which plunges players into the dark world of Walter White, in which you can create your own chemistry lab and develop your own blue meth business in New Mexico. "We’ve had a great time working with FTX Games. They care as much about the details as our creative team, and I have been very impressed with their commitment to building an authentic extension of the series’ story universe," said the creator of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. "I think this will be a fun experience for fans, to interact with characters from ‘Breaking Bad’ in a completely new way."
As Vince Gilligan indicates, players will also come across iconic protagonists from the show. We're thinking of Walt and Jesse, of course, but Hollywood Reporter has also confirmed the presence of Gus Fring, Saul Goodman and Mike. They'll come to your aid as you struggle to overcome danger to control Albuquerque and the surrounding area. Although the specifics of the gameplay have not yet been revealed, Breaking Bad: Criminal Elements should be available on iOS and Android later in the year. Perhaps it'll even be here in time to accompany the release of Season 5 of Better Call Saul...
