Last week, Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, boss of the American label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), announced on Twitter that four new albums would be released by the label before the end of 2018. As DJ Booth reports, the hip hop world quickly concluded that these would be, in order of release date, the eagerly awaited albums from Schoolboy Q, Reason, Isaiah Rashad and Ab-Soul. But the seeds of doubt have now been sown.

On September 2, Isaiah Rashad invited his fans to follow him in the studio via an Instagram live video to tease the arrival of his upcoming third album. After providing more details about his new project, the Tennessee rapper, sitting next to Anthony Tiffith, ended by announcing that he'd just heard the new solo album by Kendrick Lamar, provisionally entitled Damn Near. "[Anthony Tiffith] just played me a whole [K] Dot album, damn near", he told the camera.

For now, no comment has been made by the TDE label concerning Isaiah Rashad's declaration, but if we take his words seriously, the Compton rapper could soon be back with his fifth album. This would be particularly impressive when we consider that the intense DAMN, Kendrick's latest album to date, which netted him a Pulitzer prize, was released just seventeen months ago.

“he just played me a whole dot album”  are we getting new kendrick before end of the year?
