Guillermo Del Toro Is Creating A New Horror Anthology For Netflix
After briefly dabbling in the world of television with The Strain in 2014, the supremely talented Guillermo del Toro has set out on a new series venture for Netflix. The Mexican director, who's already working with the platform on Trollhunters, has pitched a horror anthology to be based around the same format as shows like American Horror Story and Black Mirror. Which, naturally, was an offer Netflix could not refuse.
Titled Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight, the series will allow the filmmaker the chance to bring his own stories to the small screen. Taking a similar approach to Alfred Hitchcock Presents, aired between 1955 and 1962, the concept for the project is also not entirely unlike Showtime's Masters of Horror.
For the show, del Toro will be credited as creator and executive producer – and perhaps even showrunner considering he'll be writing and directing certain episodes. The Shape of Water producer J. Miles Dale will also be acting as executive producer on the show.
Netflix has not yet revealed a release or filming date for Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight. Don't get your hopes up for a quick turnaround, however, as the director's schedule is already jam-packed between a dark reboot of Pinocchio, an adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham's Nightmare Alley and a documentary on filmmaker Michael Mann.
