The First Trailer For 'Little Women' Showcases The Impressive Cast For The Movie
Amid love and rebellion, the film by Greta Gerwig looks set to make an impact with Emma Watson, Saoirse Ronan and Meryl Streep.
Emma Watson, Timothée Chalamet and Florence Pugh (the up-and-coming heroine of Midsommar) are all present in the first trailer for the new adaptation of Little Women by Greta Gerwig. After four previous cinema adaptations (by Harley Knoles, George Cukor, Mervyn LeRoy and, more recently, Gillian Armstrong in 1994), now the director of Lady Bird will be taking up the challenge of reviving the emblematic literary work by Louisa May Alcott.
The story of the young women is set in the middle of the American Civil War, which explains the period costumes seen in the trailer. Obeying politeness rules, Timothée Chalamet introduces each of the sisters on the beach in the trailer: "Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth." Emma Watson is smacked round the head with a pillow, Saoirse Ronan starts to rebel, Laura Dern keeps a close eye on the gang and Meryl Streep is especially sarcastic.
Besides the story of love and marriage upon which the plot hinges, the strong characters and complex, sincere screenwriting by Greta Gerwig could transform Little Women into the romance to warm our hearts this winter. The movie will be released in the US in time for Christmas.
