Cult Movie 'Coming To America' Starring Eddy Murphy Will Indeed Have A Sequel
The original movie directed by John Landis over thirty years ago will finally have a sequel.
In 1988, Prince Akeem left Zamunda and landed in New York to find the woman of his dreams. Thirty years later, the prince could return, as Deadline confirms that the iconic John Landis movie with Eddie Murphy Coming To America will have a sequel.
The actor agreed to come back as the Prince in this new film directed by Craig Brewer. The pair just finished working on Dolemite Is My Name, a movie about Rudy Ray Moore, the famous actor of Blaxploitation. This biopic produced by Netflix has a wonderful cast (Wesley Snipes, Keegan-Michael Key, Chris Rock, and T.I.) and will mark Eddie Murphy’s big come back on the big screen. The actor was happy to work with the director two times in a row.
In this new episode, Akeem will be back in New York to see his long-lost son, who is the heir of the Zamunda throne. Deadline explains this project aims to reunite the original cast with Arsenio Hall, Shari Headley, John Amos, and James Earl Jones.
The production should start this year.
