Joe Cole has found a role on a par with his talent. The actor played the unforgettable John Shelby in Peaky Blinders, who died a hero's death at the hands of the Changretta family, and is now set to take the series world by storm once again. The British actor has been cast in Gangs of London, a gangster series co-produced by Cinemax and Sky. Gone are the 1920s and the dusty roads of the English capital: Joe Cole will be playing a contemporary gangster in a London split between various gangs in search of complete control.

Gangs of London will begin with the murder of a local gang boss, wreaking havoc in the city. Joe Cole will appear alongside Sope Dirisu (The Huntsman: Winter's War) and filming for the series will begin soon, led by director Gareth Evans, who is known for his violent movies (the two installments of The Raid, the upcoming Deathstroke for Worlds of DC). Several other well-known actors will also make an appearance, including Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark in Game of Thrones), Lucian Msamati (Taboo), Mark Lewis Jones (National Treasure), Narges Rashidi (The Girlfriend Experience) and Richard Harrington (Poldark).

The first season will comprise ten episodes, the first three of which will be directed by Gareth Evans, with the rest shared between Corin Hardy (The Nun) and French director Xavier Gens (Budapest). As far as we know, the show will be action-focused, featuring Evans' signature spectacular, well-choreographed fight scenes. Joe Cole + fighting + gangs + London = heaven for series lovers. Gangs of London is scheduled for release in the US and the UK in late 2019.
