Ann Lilya defines herself as a "scientist of imagination." This tattoo artist is working at Good Sign Tattoo studio in Minsk, Belarus, and she is as colorful as her graphic tattoos. Indeed, she is the pop heroine of her own trippy world.
Ann caught the tattoo bug at an early age. She recalls: "I was 17 years old when I got my first real tattoo machine. My mother was against the idea but my father encouraged me. At first, I didn’t really realize the impact it would have on my future and the place tattoo art would take in my life."
The pink-haired artist has developed her own funky style, inspired by acrylic and watercolor paintings. Her universe is truly psychedelic and looks like a trippy herbarium, also including fantasy animals and fairy tale elements such as Disney-like castles. Ann tells Konbini:
"I enjoy experimenting with design and pop colors. The contemporary world inspires me a lot, but also music and love. If there is a mutual trust between my client and I, I can really free my creativity."
If imagination is her main tool, her tattoos are mostly an ode to nature. She explains:
"Nature tattoos are popular in our hi-tech world because nature will never cease to amaze us with her many possibilities. It inspires us to be unique and it is the only thing that can make us complete. Technology will never do that."
Ann Lilya is passionate about her art and her philosophy is not only to go with the flow, but to create it: "My goal in art is to keep surprising people and delight them with joyful creations." Follow her on Instagram and discover more work below:
