French Company Is Selling Spyware To 'Find Out If Your Son Is Gay'

A French company recently fell under fire after offering a service claiming their spyware could help parents find out if their son is gay. The spyware makes it possible for parents to access their child's computer and find evidence of homosexual interactions by viewing their private conversations and real-time activities online.

In an article that has since been removed, the firm posted a list of tips for finding out if your son is gay. Their suggestions were filled with homophobic stereotypes and sexism, which the article tried to justify by telling parents:

"You should accept him for who he is, because after all, as long as he's not wearing dresses and lipstick, he's just as normal as any other teen his age."

How to be certain my son is gay.

Family is the most important thing. That's why the sexual orientation of your children, who are responsible for continuing your family line, is important to you.

While most children are heterosexual, that's not the case for everyone, and while some are loud and proud about their homosexuality, some prefer to remain discreet. This article will help you determine whether or not your son is gay.

After being called out by a French LGBTQ+ organization called Le Refuge who helps young victims of homophobia, the article was attacked on French social media with comments such as: "How can this be possible in 2017?" and "Shameful and appalling #fireworld."

Marlène Schiappa, the French Secretary of State for Gender Equality, also denounced the actions of the company, tweeting: "This shows that homophobia and sexism come from the same gender stereotypes. We will fight them together."
