From Jigsaw To Jason, This Artist Turns Your Horror Faves Into Emojis

Thanks to the likes of Friday the 13th's Jason and It's Pennywise the Dancing Clown, the horror genre and its ghoulish villains have been giving us sleepless nights for decades – and will continue to do so for decades to come.

With the resurgence the genre has been enjoying, we can't think of a better way to remember the demonic clowns, charming cannibals and deranged serial killers that paved the way than Yasser Claud-Ennin's amazing emoji-like drawings.

The horror movie-inspired art, which also includes Hannibal Lecter and Jack Skellington, is the latest additions to Yasser's witty Daymoji series, where he uses "classic emojis to communicate general opinion and sentiment allocated to each day of the week or a celebration on a certain day."

Speaking with Konbini about how he chose the characters he turned into emojis, Yasser said:

"I'm a fan of horror movies and I chose characters that I thought were pretty much synonymous with every time people might have a conversation about the scariest movies of all time and also very typical Halloween costumes."

About why he chose emojis as his latest medium, he continued:

"I tend to think in terms of emojis so this became my way of using emojis as a modern-day version of ancient hieroglyphics."
