The secrets of the world of rap battles are set to be revealed to the public in a new movie. Sixteen years after the release of the classic 8 Mile, Eminem returns to cinema to produce Bodied, a movie which offers a "hilarious look inside the competitive world of rap battles", which is set for release on November 28 on the YouTube Premium platform.
Behind the camera is Joseph Kahn, known as one of the biggest music video directors in the United States over the last 30 years, directing videos for artists ranging from Wu Tang to Elton John, including U2, George Michael and Eminem (of course), as well as Dr. Dre and Snoop.
As for the cast, the young Canadian actor Calum Worthy (seen in American Vandal) plays Adam Merkin, a Berkeley student who stumbles into the world of rap following a chance encounter and a first battle victory he doesn't really know how he won.
His success takes a heavy toll on him, as he gradually turns his back on his loved ones: his classmates, girlfriend and father all fall by the wayside. Jackie Long, the rapper and comedian Dumbfoundead, Anthony Michael Hall and Charlamagne Tha God finish off the cast.
To watch the film, head over to YouTube Premium from November 28.
