Tennis legend and entrepreneur Venus Williams continues to expand her empire, and this time she's coming for the TV/entertainment industry!
Venus will executive produce and star in a new business series called Deals In Heels, alongside a panel of other female magnates, as a mentor to five talented businesswomen who will pitch their business/investment ideas.
According to Deadline, each episode will see five up-and-coming female entrepreneurs pitch to the panel. The top two women with the most promising businesses will be invited up to an "executive suite" for a more thorough grilling.
If the panel is happy with their business plans, they will dedicate one month to mentoring the entrepreneurs on all aspects of their businesses "in preparation for critical upcoming sales benchmarks."
Following this, the two competing entrepreneurs will repitch to the panel and only one startup will receive an investment. So basically it's Shark Tank but only for women...
At a time where gender and pay equality are still major issues in both developing and developed countries, with the gender gap even larger for women of colour and black women, we are really looking forward to a TV show produced by women, starring women and supporting women-run businesses.
Speaking on the project, Venus Williams said;
"As an advocate for gender and pay equality, I’m thrilled to be working with 3 Ball Entertainment on this project that fosters and supports trailblazing women who are actively pursuing their professional aspirations."
The other executive producers on Deals In Heels include Staness Jonekos, an award-winning television producer and CEO, and Deborah Perry Piscone, a Silicon Valley-based entrepreneur, author and public speaker.
