Star Wars: The Last Jedi dropped its very first trailer. From the one minute and 34 seconds of footage, however, fans have taken away just one thing: the saga's tremendously cute new addition – porgs.
Appearing unexpectedly among a flurry of new images, the fluffy little champ has been admired all over the internet with thousands taking to social media to express their unbridled love for the entire species.
My emo tweet failed I'm feeling an emotion because of those porgs I'll die for you babies gussie I lied in target I love them pic.twitter.com/X2MhTSVwbk— Keith the weregalra (@whatdokoro) 10 octobre 2017
According to Pablo Hidalgo from Lucasfilm Story Group:
"Porgs are native to Ahch-To, and can be found dwelling along the cliffs of the island where Luke and Rey are. In many ways, they're the Star Wars version of puffins. They build nests. They can fly. Their babies are called porglets."
That's right: as if they weren't adorable enough, these little heartbreakers might even have babies. We're guessing Star Wars is about to cash in on some major merchandise money soon enough.
In the meantime, check out some of the most enthusiastic reactions from Twitter below:
