After Puff, Puff Daddy, Sean John, Puffy, P. Diddy, Swag, Poppadiddydop and even Begging for Relevance (wtf?!), Sean 'Diddy' Combs has once again decided to confuse his fans by changing his name to – drumroll please – Brother Love.
The rapper announced the "big" news via his Twitter on November 4, which is actually his birthday. Combs said he knows it could seem corny but he felt the need to change his name once more because he doesn't feel like the same person he was before. "I'm something different, so my new name is Love, aka Brother Love. I will not be answering to Puffy, Diddy, Puff Daddy or any of my other monikers
It's all good given that over the years people got accustomed to rappers changing their names from one thing to another (we're looking at you, Snoop Lion), but see, there's one tiny detail that Combs might've overlooked or purposefully ignored – there already is a Brother Love and his real name is Bruce Prichard.
Back in the late 80s–early 90s, Prichard worked for World Wrestling Entertainment (then World Wrestling Federation) where he performed under the stage name Brother Love and hosted his own show titled The Brother Love Show.
The character, decked out in a white suit-red shirt-white tie combo, with his hair gelled down and gold rings on each of his fingers, was modeled after the sleazy televangelists. Prichard is obviously mad that Combs stole his identity, but we'll have to wait and see if his appeal reaches the famous rapper.
Yo. Find a new gimmick. I invented and perfected Brother Love. I am the original and you are not. Remember North Carolina.— Bruce Prichard (@bruceprichard) November 4, 2017
Sorry Diddy... Brother Love is already taken! And Dude Love? Yep that one too! pic.twitter.com/6mPNQAKMom— Scott Stanford (@scottstanford1) November 6, 2017
