Warner is working on a 100% female movie. They want to reboot the Scooby-Doo franchise with a live-action film focusing on Daphne Blake (the redhead) and Velma Dinkley (the brainy one with the glasses), before they joined the Mystery Inc crew.
According to Variety, the movie will center on the two friends' first ever investigation, a string of mysterious disappearances at school.
All the victims are brilliant students who've signed up for an apprenticeship with a prestigious company owned by a tech billionaire. When they do find them, they'll discover they've been kind of lobotomised...
Ashley and Jennifer Tisdale are working with Warner via their production company Blondie Girl Productions, specializing in content with a female perspective. They told Variety:
"It’s so exciting to partner with Warner Home Entertainment and Blue Ribbon Content to introduce a new generation to the smart, charismatic, fearless females that we all know and love."
Sarah Jeffery (Shades of Blue) and Sarah Gilman (Last Man Standing) will play Daphne and Velma respectively.
This movie, focusing on two iconic female characters, follows the current trend wishing to give women a larger role in cinema making and we can only praise this initiative, provided the rest of the cast is of the same caliber as the leads, of course.
