He's incredibly smart and likes his facts straight (think Lord of the Rings vs The Hobbit argument), he is a sobering realist and tells it how it is ("No, Mike, you give me a break!"), his sharp sense of humor has us dying laughing even when it's actually time to be sad ("Because its face opened up and it ate my cat"), oh, and did we mention he loves food just as much as we do?
Yes, Stranger Things' Dustin, played by Gaten Matarazzo, is definitely the character that makes the otherwise bleak events of Hawkins seem a little less tragic. So no wonder that over the course of the show's two seasons, he's gathered a solid fan base that wants a little part of Dustin themselves.
Following their obsession with Matarazzo's character, many fans took it to the Science Museum of Minnesota in search of the purple hoodie that Dustin sports in season two of Stranger Things.
According to CNBC, the hoodie "was first available from the museum's Explore Store in the early 1980s," exactly the time Netflix's popular show is set in. Costume designer Kim Wilcox says she found it online when searching for period inspiration. Wilcox told Newsweek:
"I really loved the Brontosaurus for Dustin, so we bought the original. Then we made our own purple hoodie with this great dinosaur art in Gaten's size."
Once the hoodie appeared in the show, the museum says they've been getting calls, emails and social media posts from people asking where to get it. So much so, they decided to re-release the popular item in limited quantities. In a press release, the museum announced it will start selling hoodies, crewnecks and t-shirts for $15-$40 starting Tuesday, November 7, 8 am.
What they didn't foresee is how high the demand for this geeky piece of clothing is. According to reports, the number of crazed buyers crashed the museum's website eventually purchasing upwards of 80,000 purple Brontosaurus hoodies. You can "turn your world upside down" by buying one over here.
