'Sabrina The Teenage Witch' To Return In A Dark Reboot From 'Riverdale' Creators

A few months ago, Archie Comics creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa announced plans to reboot 90s teen favorite, Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Because, as you may not be aware, the original TV show was actually adapted from a comic by the iconic publisher.

But as if that wasn't enough, it's now been announced that the team behind Riverdale – namely, Greg Berlanti, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Sarah Schechter and Jon Goldwater – will be on board for a new horror version of the show in collaboration with The CW.

Entitled The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, the series is set to take a much more somber approach to the story. As The CW explains, it'll be:

"A dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature – half-witch, half-mortal – while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit."

As Variety reports, Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will be working on the show which will be a "companion piece" to Archie's sexy storyline if it gets a full season order.

Will Salem still be in it, though?
