We Know A Bit More About The 'One Piece' Live-Action Series

The most famous shōnen manga in the world will land on our screens in a few years and is already in production.

The massive Hollywood project, supervised by none other than Eiichirō Oda and produced by Marty Adelstein (Prison Break, Teen Wolf), could very well be the most expensive series ever, alongside The Lord Of The Rings.

They unveiled the project at Jump Festa. The announcement probably reassured fans and manga readers, since we learned that the series will closely follow the original material.

The show will adhere to the "East Blue Saga" narrative, which presents Luffy and the One Piece universe: the 100 first episodes see Straw Hat Luffy recruiting most of his crew (Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji) and starting his maritime adventure in search of Gol D. Roger's treasure.

In the story, Luffy and his crew visit Orange Town, Syrup (Usopp's hometown), Arlong Park and Loguetown. He'll have to fight Baggy, Smoker and the powerful Arlong, a herd of enemies that will be pretty difficult to translate in live-action form.

At the end of the "East Blue Saga", there's a 30 million berry price on Luffy's head.

The follow-up, about Luffy vs. Ener, the former God Of Skypiea, might upset purists, if the series is successful enough to go that far, that is.
