For the past few weeks, Hollywood has been blowing up with a shocking series of assault scandals. The latest involves Kevin Spacey who is accused of multiple charges of sexual misconduct, including pursuing a sexual relationship with a fourteen-year-old boy.

With various investigations underway – including a UK inquiry into an assault taking place in London in 2008 – Netflix has decided to cut all ties with Spacey, announcing that House of Cards will be not be continuing with the actor's participation.

While it was revealed last week that the show's sixth season would be its last, Netflix has now confirmed it will cease all involvement with the series' star. In a statement, the platform said:

"Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show."

Netflix also confirms that it will not be "moving forward with the release of the film  Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey."

According to Deadline, the show was filming the third episode of season six when the plug was pulled. It is unclear if the show will go on without Spacey but it is thought the suspension on filming may become permanent. A few days ago, Netflix revealed that there was at least one incident of sexual harassment on the set of House of Cards involving Spacey.
