At just 23, British-Nigerian rapper Simbi Ajikawo (aka Little Simz) has dropped four mixtapes, seven EPs, two albums and has already been cosigned by the greatest rapper working today, Kendrick Lamar, who called her "the illest doing it right now."
Kendrick isn't the only superstar who shares this sentiment, the pint-sized powerhouse has also gotten the stamp of approval from rap icons like Lauryn Hill, Andre 3000, Snoop Dogg and J. Cole.
A rap career that cannot be ignored
Since she dropped her first mixtape in 2010 right from her bedroom, Simbi has been virtually unstoppable – never losing steam or her signature ferociousness on a track.
In 2015, Simbi officially burst onto the scene with her confident and cohesive debut album, A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons – which makes a lot of sense, considering she had dropped seven more mixtapes prior to that.
Then in late 2016, she dropped her exceptional second album, Stillness in Wonderland – a concept album based on Alice in Wonderland. With this album, she not only solidified her spot in the world's evolving rap scene but dared us to ignore her rising star one second longer.
Speaking with Vibe about when she realized this was what she wanted to do, Simbi said:
"Probably when I was like 14 and I was like cool, this is what I want to do for… forever. For as long as I can.
I really enjoy doing this and this is what I’ve been seeing my life being. This is what I can see myself doing in the future."
An actress on the side
As if her rap skills weren't enough to make us envious, Simbi is also a pretty solid actress. In 2010, she starred in BBC's acclaimed show, Spirit Warriors, where she played one of the kids who gets transported to a spirit world and granted powers.
Then in 2013, she landed a spot on Youngers, E4's hit comedy-drama which starred fellow British-Nigerian rising star, Arinze Kene. So, you better learn her name, she's about to take over our screens and airwaves.
