Warner Bros. Want Leonardo DiCaprio For The Joker Origins Movie

Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio share a long-lasting professional relationship – the two men have already worked together on movies such as The Wolf of Wall Street, Shutter Island, Gangs of New York, The Departed and The Aviator and are currently helming the true-crime thriller Killers of the Flower Moon.

However, it seems like there could be one more film to add to the list. Reports claim that Warner Bros. is eyeing DiCaprio for the main role in the recently announced Joker origins movie.

Scorsese is rumored to be working on the movie alongside Todd Phillips (War Dogs, The Hangover trilogy) and Scott Silver (8 Mile), although the legendary filmmaker's participation hasn't been solidly confirmed yet. According to Hollywood Reporter, Scorsese's involvement would really help in getting DiCaprio to finally enter the world f comic-book movies.

What baffles many is the actor's age – Leo will soon celebrate his 43rd birthday, which seems a little much if we're talking about Joker's origins.

Fans also wondered about Jared Leto, who portrayed Joker in 2016's Suicide Squad. Leto was allegedly "caught off-guard" by the making of this new movie and felt displeased "with the notion of multiple Jokers."

Earlier this week, Collider ran a poll asking its readers who should play Joker in Warner Bros.' origins movie. The results were most favorable to the following actors:

  • Bill Skarsgård
  • Jake Gyllenhaal
  • Dan Stevens
  • Tom Hiddleston
  • Riz Ahmed
  • Caleb Landry Jones
  • Will Poulter
  • Oscar Isaac
  • Rhys Wakefield
  • Cameron Monaghan
  • Jimmi Simpson
  • Finn Wittrock
  • Lucas Hedges
  • Jacob Tremblay
