If you're not one for sappy romantic comedies interlaced with cheerful musical bits set to popular 70s–80s hits, then skip to the next article.
However, if you do enjoy all those things and can still remember laughing and sobbing at the 2008 blockbuster Mamma Mia! The Movie, listen up – almost ten years after the original movie, a Mamma Mia sequel is in the works at Universal.
The best part? According to Deadline, the original cast – Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters and Christine Baranski – is expected to make a return, along with some fresh new faces.
The new movie, aptly titled Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, is written and directed by Ol Parker (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and is slated for a July 20, 2018 release.
The sequel creators also promise a soundtrack of ABBA songs that haven't been featured in the first installment, so besides shaking your ass off to "Money, Money, Money," "Super Trouper" and "Dancing Queen," you'll get to funk it up with some extra oldies but goldies.
And yes, while the sequel gods have not been very generous with us recently, a Mamma Mia remake only makes sense – the first movie scored a whopping $609 million at the worldwide box office, and the follow-up is already gaining momentum on social media.
Are you excited? Because we definitely are!
