Ben Young's critically acclaimed first film seems to point to a promising future for the Australian film maker. Hounds of Love received rave reviews at the Venice Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival and even came away with a score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Considered to be flawless by 16 critics, including prestigious journalists from the Hollywood Reporter and Variety, the Factor 30 film is "certified fresh" – the category for films with a score of 75% or higher.
The psychological thriller takes place in 1987 and follows the adventures of Vicki Maloney, who is trapped in the home of a serial killer couple named Evelyn and John White, after spending the evening with them.
To survive, the prisoner has to look for weak points in the couple to try to break them down. Just watch the trailer and you'll see how unbearably intense and suspenseful the film is.
Starring Emma Booth, Ashleigh Cummings, Stephen Curry and Susie Porter, Hounds of Love comes out on May 12.
