On Monday 27 November, Frank Ocean took to his trusty Tumblr page to drop an announcement both exciting and mysterious.
After stating that he planned to release five albums before his 30th birthday (celebrated in style at the end of October) in 2012, Frank has now hinted that he's sitting on an already completed album.
"I made the album before 30. I just aint put that bitch out!", he wrote in capital letters, elusively adding: "quotes from an interview I haven’t given."
Coming a year after the release of Blonde, the news doesn't come as a huge surprise. Since the start of 2017, Frank Ocean has been unveiling a stream of new singles including "Chanel", "Biking", "Provider" and "Lens" – not forgetting an appearance on Calvin Harris's "Slide".
At the same time, the singer has also been hinting that he may never release another album, instead opting to drop a few songs here and there as he has done this year. After parting ways with record label Def Jam last year, he said:
"Because I am not in a record deal, I don’t have to operate in an album format. I can operate in half-a-song format."
Either way, if there is more Frank Ocean music in existence, we want to get our hands on it ASAP. As we wait for more news about the potential disc, Frank has kindly unveiled CD, DVD and VHS recordings of his video album Endless. How retro.
