It's already been a whopping fourteen years since Angelina Jolie last donned her booty shorts to play Lara Croft on the silver screen. Now, inspired by a new generation of video game, and not to mention a more realistic representation of a woman, Alicia Vikander has taken on the role of Tomb Raider.
Beating the likes of Daisy Ridley to the role, Vikander is the perfect fit, bringing her Oscar-winning acting skills to the table to hopefully breathe new life into the franchise that kind of fell by the wayside.
The first images captured on set of Alicia as Lara look promising. Dressed in a similar style to the new and improved Lara Croft from the Square Enix games, she actually looks like she could be an adventurer, not just a gamer's fantasy.
Shooting in Cape Town in South Africa, Lara Croft is currently expected to hit cinemas on March 16, 2018.
