Zayn Malik (the Ex One Directioner) has finally released his debut album Mind of Mine as a solo recording artist.
The results are in: Mind of Mine is the first debut album in history to reach #1 on iTunes in more than 70 countries around the world.
The album is being hailed as his best work yet since the dramatic break up with One Direction. He broke the hearts of many fans last year. People wondered if he was ever going to be great on his own, people wondered what his next move will be- would he quit music forever? (Remember #ZaynMalikWillAlwaysBeInOurHearts?) Like Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson- who were once part of a group too, Zayn faced that pressure of making music people that will actually like as a new solo artist. The last time One Direction posted on Instagram was three weeks ago...I'm just saying.
With Mind of Mine, he exceeded the critics' expectations. He looks good! He seems to be embracing his vices (listen to Bright). Cue the concert 'grams!
It's bout the path you're choosing /Time heals pain and promotes self-soothing /When the scars are gone you can't see bruising / Wanna take these watches, chains and gold rings / I'm getting caught up in the feelings that they bring / A lack of sanity, losing touch with reality / Smoking too much, it's starting to fog up my clarity/ Traveling in the day but you're still looking far to me
I found my life in between shots and getting high / The cage I was in fell away when she asked me to dance again, yeah
With one artist collaboration by Grammy nominated singer Kehlani on the album, the project is already seeing positive feedback. #ZaynMalik was trending for hours on the morning of the album's release.
Expect a bunch of dance tracks and expressive lyrics about past relationships. "Nothing but truth will leave my mouth," Zayn sings in the song lUcozade.
Overall, fans have agreed that they're loving every moment of the new Zayn Malik.
