David Oyelowo's (Selma, Queen of Katwe) upcoming movie Gringo has finally shared its first trailer, and it's even better than we had expected!
Directed by Nash Edgerton, Gringo follows Harold Soyinka (played by Oyelowo), a mild-mannered businessman facing crushing debt, who ventures to Mexico to hand-deliver a formula for a revolutionary new weed pill. Along the way, he gets tangled up with volatile business partners, Mexican drug lords, mercenaries, and the DEA, all while hilariously trying (and failing) to keep his cool.
This will not only be Oyelowo's first leading comedic role, but it will also be the first time the British-Nigerian actor is actually playing a Nigerian in a movie — he even gets to speak Yoruba in what's easily the trailer's funniest scene.
Oyelowo is also joined by some of Hollywood's best and most versatile actors, including Oscar winner Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton, Emmy nominee Thandie Newton, Amanda Seyfried and more.
Gringo is set to hit US and UK cinemas on March 9, 2018, and we can't wait. Watch the hilarious trailer below:
