It seemed more like the stuff of dreams than a potential reality. Until now. David Fincher will soon direct World War Z 2, six years after Brad Pitt's last zombiesque adventures. The project, which we've been talking about for ages, and which the famous filmmaker has been linked to for at least a year, has been constantly delayed, and we'd started to wonder whether it would ever see the light.
But the producers of the feature film, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, have now announced some news about the project. Speaking to our counterparts at Variety during the preview for Beautiful Boy, they confirmed that Fincher was still up for the project, and that filming would begin in June 2019 — which leads us to expect a release sometime in 2020.
We know that David Fincher is currently working on filming for the second season of Mindhunter for Netflix, which should be complete by the end of the year. We imagine that the director will be working on the post-production for the series throughout a large part of 2019, before setting to work on the other project.
We'll know more in the coming weeks, but an announcement of a new David Fincher film is always good news – especially when it involves Brad Pitt, who he has already directed in Fight Club and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
