Dan Aykroyd, like the rest of the world, hasn't escaped the enormous success of Stranger Things, with its endless references to 80s pop culture. The actor and screenwriter of the original Ghostbusters, the first installment of which hit cinemas in 1984, now wants to join in the Hawkins kids' fun by sending out a new troop of paranormal investigators.
Asked about the possibility of a live-action Ghostbusters series, perhaps even on Netflix, Dan Aykroyd answered:
"Yes. Absolutely. Sure. Sure. I can see several possibilities there. You know? Take a cue from these guys in Stranger Things and maybe have the Ghostbusters in high school or something."
Following Paul Feig's all-female Ghostbusters reboot, it looks like the franchise is getting ready to be rebooted and remade in all kinds of different ways. As it goes, Dan Aykroyd was also working on an animation entitled Ghostbusters: Echo Force, planned for release in 2018.
And as Netflix and the Duffer brothers have proven, the flame for retro nostalgia is still burning brightly in the world of TV. Stay tuned for more.
