Well, 2016, you clearly have something against our favorite cultural icons. After George Michael, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Prince, Mohammed Ali, and Harper Lee, Carrie Fisher, the legendary actress famous for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars, has passed away.
According to People, the actress left us on Tuesday, December 27 at the age of 60.
A statement released by the family's spokesperson Simon Halls reads:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning.”
Lourd also went on to say that "she was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."
Last Friday, Carrie Fisher suffered a heart attack while on board a plane headed to Los Angeles.
