'It' Director Andy Muschietti Slated To Work On Upcoming 'Dracula' Prequel

There's a strong chance that with the success of It, director Andy Muschietti will soon be the darling of all the Hollywood studios. Before the new movie was even out, there was already hype about Muschietti directing its sequel.

The Argentinian director is also slated to work on a live action adaptation of the animated series Robotech for Sony Pictures, and today we learned about yet another large project for the director.

According to VarietyParamount has just begun developing a Dracula prequel that will unveil the events leading up to the writing of Bram Stoker's eponymous novel. And, surprise! Andy Muschietti has signed on to direct the film centered on pop culture's most famous vampire.

We don't have many details for the moment, but we do know the film will be set in 1868, when a 21-year-old Bram Stoker will discover an evil creature trapped in an ancient tower. You get the idea...

One thing is for sure: over one hundred years since the legendary novel came out, Dracula still has what it takes to spark our imaginations.
