Entertainment Weekly has just released a first look at the third season of Ryan Murphy's anthology, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
The highly anticipated series will bring together a five-star cast. Édgar Ramírez will be playing Gianni Versace, Ricky Martin stars as his boyfriend, and Penelope Cruz will play his illustrious sister, Donatella.
In addition, Darren Criss will play the role of Andrew Cunanan, the man who assassinated the famous fashion designer on July 15, 1997 on the steps of his villa in Miami.
As with the critically acclaimed The People vs O.J. Simpson, season 3 of American Crime Story will focus on the ins and outs of the highly mediatized murder which shook up high society and the fashion world in the 1990s.
And you're right, season 2, which covers the management of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana in 2005, has not aired yet. It actually doesn't have a release date yet, and no images have been revealed.
However, we do know that Dennis Quaid will play President George W. Bush, Annette Bening will play Kathleen Blanco, the governer of Louisiana at the time, and Matthew Broderick will play FEMA director Michael D. Brown.
It's uncommon in television production, but both seasons are being made in parallel, and they are expected to air one after the other in 2018 on FX.
