Before Anike Lawal had her first child, she, like most women, did a lot of research about what to expect. She eventually hit a wall when she decided to focus on pregnancy and motherhood from the Nigerian perspective.
The utter lack of a platform that focused solely on the needs of expectant Nigerian mothers like herself, eventually led her to create Mamalette.
An online community for new and expectant mothers
Mamalette is a social platform where new and expectant mothers can access relevant content and network with other women who are going through – or have gone through – similar experiences.
The platform aims to offer useful information to new mothers through their online forum and social media platforms, as well as national and local events.
About why she created this community, Anike said on her website:
"I created it to help women make informed and life-saving decisions, and also as a support, guide and friend for mothers and mothers-to-be during their first few years as parents."
Anike also hosts an annual event, Mamalette Live, where she brings experts together to discuss, inform and provide answers on most of the common issues faced by pregnant women and new mothers in Nigeria.
