Tomi Adeyemi's 'Children Of Blood And Bone' Is Getting A Sequel

Earlier this year, there was a lot of buzz surrounding Tomi Adeyemi's Children Of Blood And Bone, with a lot of people saying the book had the capacity to be like Harry Potter for a new generation.

If you're anything like us, you would have breezed through the acclaimed novel in no time, but no fear, a sequel has just been announced: Children Of Virtue And Vengeance!

Children Of Blood And Bone was amazing, so we're definitely excited for the sequel. Besides the intriguing storyline, it was amazing for black people all over the world, as black children got to identify with characters in a genre (fantasy) that rarely recognises them.

Set in Nigeria, Children Of Blood And Bone follows Zélie Adebola's adventure to overcome the monarchy in order to bring magic back to her homeland, Orisha, with the help of the rogue princess, Amari.

In the sequel, Zélie and Amari have finally succeeded in bringing magic back to the land of Orisha, but the ritual was more powerful than they could’ve imagined. With civil war looming on the horizon, Zélie finds herself at breaking point, and she must discover a way to bring the kingdom together or watch as Orisha tears itself apart.

On Twitter, Tomi joked that the third book will be called Children Of Tomi And M'Baku and while we know she's joking, we still want it! She's urged us to pre-order Children Of Virtue And Vengeance so she'll be forced to write it quickly, so make sure to place your order right here.

We are anticipating more information about the book's release, and also REALLY want any information at all about the upcoming movie adaptation! We're putting our bets on Funke Akindele to play Mama Agba!
