A few months ago, we reported that XII Glover was here to save the state of streetwear retail in Nigeria, and since their launch, they have continued to prove us right.
Tiwa Savage released tour merchandise a few weeks ago at a pop-up in London, and now items from her capsule collection, just like with Wizkid's Starboy tour merch, will be made available for purchase at XII Glover this Friday.
Tiwa Savage is arguably the biggest female artist out of Africa, and she's also a massive cultural influencer. From her ever-changing hair to her daring clothes, her style is a massive talking point, and now she's certainly increased that influence with her tour merchandise.
We explained the cultural significance of having tour merchandise when Wizkid dropped his, and it makes sense that Tiwa Savage followed suit. All curated by Irene Agbontaen of TTYA, Tiwa's capsule collection features inscribed t-shirts, jumpers, bandanas, hoodies and phone accessories.
We can see that this trend is trickling down, as Pretty Boy D-O recently unveiled merchandise for his upcoming album launch. This is definitely a great movement, as it's important for us to create the culture for ourselves, rather than relying on outsiders to do it for us!
